I never thought that I would make a post about this but I literally have no other options at this point and need some urgent advice.I have had this massive blowout on the back of my right earlobe for quite a while now that is really starting to impact me both socially and emotionally.I started stretching my ears in 2014 starting with my right ear, I had my first piercing in my ear lobe in January and then my first taper 6 months or so after (all my stretches have been done using acrylic tapers), then gradually went up one each additional stretcher size once every month (sometimes 2). 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12 etc.
I did have a keloid on my first piercing (stud) because I left it in too long and a lump formed, but I ended up getting the lymph fluid all squeezed out of it and the taper put in after it healed).I eventually got to 14 mm, which was my goal size. I then got my left ear pierced and began the same process on that. Whilst I focused on my left ear for a year I had a 14 mm sized silicone tunnel in my right ear so it was easier to get in and out at first with no problems. There have been times where my earlobes had been really crusty and leaking colourless liquid, even waking up some mornings to find my pillow covered in blood patches, but they were all problems I got over by caring for my ears.
My left ear has now caught up since early this year and I wore the silicone tunnels in both ears and was happy. I noticed that I had very small thin blowouts on the backs of my earlobes over time, but they were so minute and unnoticeable that I didn't really have an issue with them at first. However, at the beginning of this summer (around June/July time I think), I took out the silicone tunnels and put in some black metal flared 14 mm tunnels instead because I realised that they were the actual tunnels that I wanted to wear, and they looked better. It was after doing putting these new tunnels in, that this blowout on my right ear gained 10 times the size of what it was before and is now permanently quite sore and constantly causing my tunnel to sit in the ear awkwardly, although I can get the jewelry in and out just fine. The blowout if abnormally big and looks as if it's forming a hood over the earhole, plus it feels quite hard to the touch. I've actually received comments from friends and piercers alike that have been quite shocked by how big it is and in some cases the biggest they've ever seen. (Which greatly helps my self esteem I'm sure you'll agree!)The blowout on the back of my left ear is still thin and unchanged, but it's more noticeable now with the new jewelry in. Which is why I don't understand why my right ear is so bad in comparison.I've tried everything to get rid of it.
Aspirin paste, salt water soaks/compresses, bio oil massages 3 times a day (I ran out of oil!). I've tried downsizing, leaving my jewelry out for a week and pushing the blowout back through my ear (alongside the massaged oil) to see if it would improve or absorb back but it's just not shrinking or getting any better. So with blowouts that extensive, probably your only option is finding a reputable body mod artist for.
A doctor (dermatologist or plastic surgeon) could also do it, but unless you live somewhere with free healthcare, it's going to be a lot more expensive than a body mod artist would be. That's a lot of scar tissue that has to be removed, you're not going to be able to have it drained or anything like that, so don't attempt to DIY anything yourself again. Once you get the blowouts taken care of, you need to wear high quality implant grade jewelry or high quality glass. No more cheap metals, no more acrylic, and no organics until you're well healed, and those organics must be removed daily as they're not meant for long term wear. Also, keloids can't be drained either, they're solid scar tissue that have to be frozen off or surgically removed by a medical professional (or sometimes a body mod artist). What you had was probably an irritation bump, but you don't want to squeeze them or do anything to them except remove the source(s) of irritation. UPDATESo I saw a doctor about it, and was prescribed Mupirocin for 10 days to massage into the blowout 3 times a day to see it would get any better.
(It didn't).Went to an appointment with a doctor who specialises in skin and was told that there's nothing that they can do for me and the best thing to do would be to just take the tunnels out completely and leave my earlobes be for 3 months. There's no guarantee that it's going to heal however, and since it's a cosmetic issue I would have to personally fund myself if I want it removed surgically.Bah fucking humbug.

Should you believe in the age-old philosophy that the come in threes — and, if you know about Hansen, BLTs, and the Sanderson sisters, it's only logical that you do — then the biggest of 2019 will come as no surprise. 'One look that is heavily on the rise, and one of my favorites to do, is doing them in triplets,' said, a piercer at Maria Tash in NYC.That is, creating a constellation trio of — not that this is limited to where, or how, you place them. 'I've noticed people getting more adventurous and really pushing the limit with these,' he said. 'Where someone might traditionally do two or a first and, they're instead doing sets of three. Or, they are doing sets of three in the flats of their upper ear and creating this beautiful flow with amazing jewelry.
This has also branched out to people doing my personal favorite: sets of three in a triangle. I absolutely love those and think that will have an even larger presence in the piercing world this year.' If two is company, then three's a crowd — and the inspiration photos ahead might just convince you to join the party.
